Managing our bills – including our credit cards – has never been easier, thanks to online banking.

Whether through your bank or through your credit card’s website, you can pay your bill and stay on top of your debt without relying on snail mail.

Often times, it just makes more sense to sign up for the credit card management system offered through your credit card, as it will be able to provide you with more information than the bill payment system through your bank.

Now that banks want to cut back on lending, they’re lowering credit lines for even their most reliable cardholders – and they’re closing unused accounts.

The End of Cash? New iPhone Apps Take Credit Cards

The race is on, or so it seems, to come up with the best mobile phone device for swiping and processing credit cards. Mophie, a manufacturer of accessories for the iPhone and iTouch, has announced that it will introduce a new add-on credit card reader, which enables small businesses to swipe and process credit cards on the spot.

The Mophie reader works through a small device attached to the audio jack of the iPhone or iTouch. The transaction is processed through a special third party application. Mophie is presenting the new device at this month’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

One Final Push for Credit Card Issuers?

As we get closer to the implementation date of the CARD Act, experts and consumers alike are looking to see what credit card issuers are planning to do next. If the recent test of raising interest rates to 79.9% performed by Premier Bank was any indication then we could very well be at the beginning of what will feel like a very long year.

With many of the most hectic changes occurring within the last quarter of 2009, issuers targeted both those that were in good standing as well as those that were not. During that time cardholders saw major movements in every aspect of owning and using a credit card. These changes included record interest rate increases, decreases in credit limits, the purging of rewards, and huge increases in annual fees among other fees.

So will there be at least one more push by the banks to find ways to make up the revenue that is lost by defaults and charge-offs?
