If you have a credit card there is a good chance that you are paying more money than you have to – month in and month out. How does that make you feel? The last thing you want to do is throw money out the window. While some people will never get on track, you do not have to be one of them.
There are several ways you may be paying more to your credit card company than others. For one, if you carry a balance you are probably paying a finance charge. How much of a charge depends on your account balance, as well as your interest rate. Some people believe that this is part of having a credit card – this is not true. You only have to deal with finance charges if you do not pay your balance in full.
Credit card companies also make a killing by assessing fees. The most common include over limit fees, late fees, and annual fees. Believe it or not, these companies rake in more than $15 billion in fees every year. There is no wondering why they are so adamant in charging a fee any time they get the chance to do so.
A credit card can be a great tool. But if you are paying more than you have to, something is wrong. Rather than continue to deal with finance charges and fees, do yourself a favor and learn to avoid these. In the long run, this will save you hundreds of dollars or more.
