Do you get the feeling that your credit card balance is entirely too big? Most people who believe this find out soon enough that it is true. If you are trying to decide where you stand, the following tips should be able to help.

1. Your credit card balance is too big if you cannot afford to pay in full. This is not always the case, but in a perfect world you will be able to pay your entire balance each month. This way you never incur finance charges. If you cannot do this there is a very good chance that your balance is too big for you to comfortably handle.

2. Your credit card balance is too big if you are paying a lot in interest. Follow this rule of thumb: any money towards interest is too much. If you do have to carry a balance and pay interest, try to keep this number to a minimum.

3. Your credit card balance is too big if you never make any progress. Are you paying every month but never see your balance drop by a large chunk? If this is the case you are not paying nearly enough. What you are sending is being cancelled out by finance charges.

So, what do you think? Is your credit card balance too big? If you can identify with any of the situations above, your answer is probably yes.
