Have you decided to pay off your credit card balances early? If so, you are like millions of other Americans looking to rid themselves of credit card debt. While it may have been harder to do in the pass it now looks many are using their monthly statements as incentives. As consumers start to get a better understanding of their credit card statements and the amounts they owe, surveys suggest that many are making the necessary moves to do something about it.
According to recent surveys from companies like National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) many cardholders have become more motivated to pay off that amount sooner than later. Many have decided that paying the minimum balance like they normally would have done is simply just not going to cut it. Instead they are deciding to take their own financial future in their own hands and pay more now than pay a whole lot more later after months and even years have passed.
With the passage of the Credit CARD Act statements received by cardholders must provided in a way that is easier to understand. As many people are getting a better grasp on the amounts owed and the time period it takes to pay off that debt, many have come to terms of how much they may have actually charged over the lifetime of making purchases with their plastic. While some may easily pay off their balance in a couple of months others found that if they stayed on the same path of paying minimum balances they would take years to pay off the debt. Hopefully moving forward cardholders that never really kept up with how much that purchase with their credit card really cost them will use the statements and make a better decision that is more in line with their financial plans.
