Do you have a tuition bill coming due in the near future? If so, you may be a college student, of any age, or a parent. Either way, you know that this bills needs paid. You have a few options for taking care of this.

If you have the money in cash, you may want to think about paying the bill in full. While this means a lot of money coming from your pocket all at once, it can save you on interest as well as future headaches.

Another option is to apply for a student loan. When you do this you will get your tuition paid, but soon after graduation your first monthly bill will come due.

What about using a credit card? This is something that many people think about doing. Some end up going for it; others decide against it. The benefit of paying for college tuition on a credit card is that you can do so in one swoop – there is not much red tape to get through. Along with this, if you can get your hands on a credit card with a zero percent introductory rate, you can save yourself a lot of money.

On the downside, you have to be careful that you do not carry your tuition on a credit card that has a high interest rate. If you plan on doing this, you might as well opt for a student loan with a lower rate. Why would you want to pay 10 to 15 percent (give or take) per month in finance charges if you don’t have to?

It is fine to use a credit card to pay tuition if you plan on getting rid of the balance before the finance charges eat into your savings.
