What kind of purchases do you put on your credit card? Some people only use their card for big purchases. Others use it for everything, no matter the size. It is important to note that small purchases can lead to big credit card debt. This is reality, and many have found out the hard way.

It is easy to believe that since you are making small purchases that your debt will never add up. But if you spend $50 here and there throughout the month, soon enough your credit card debt will be several hundred dollars or more. If you combine this with one large purchase you are looking at a credit card bill that will be hard to handle.

If you are going to make small purchases with your credit card be sure to track them the same as you would more expensive ones. As long as you are writing down your purchases you will know what you are going to be up against when the month comes to a close. Not to mention the fact that this gives you time to slow down if you realize that your balance is growing out of control.

Don’t let small purchases add up to the point of owing a large amount of money. When this happens you may not be able to afford to pay in full. In turn, you then have to contend with finance charges.

As you can see, a few smaller purchases here and there can really bog you down in terms of credit card debt. Track your spending and don’t be afraid to call it quits for the month if you realize that your balance is growing too large.
